With his success owed to a past girlfriend who submitted a photograph to Playgirl magazine for 'The Boy Next Door' feature back in 1978, Ron Jeremy reached the door of fame as an American pornographic actor. Subsequent to this, and due to his failing acting career in New York, Jeremy moved into the adult film industry as a means to support himself. Jeremy has been ranked as number one in AVN Magazine in their 'Top 100 Porn Stars of All Time'.

Outside of the adult movie industry, Jeremy has played roles in other movies, released a line of condiments and appeared in various television dramas. He also posed in an advertisement for 'People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' (PETA) to raise awareness of the overpopulation of domesticated animals. In the poster, Jeremy lies partially nude with a pair of handcuffs around his wrists whilst the title of the advert exclaims "Too much sex can be a bad thing. Spay and neuter your cats and dogs".

I chose to paint this picture of Ron Jeremy simply because of his pose. Being an earlier picture of him, one where he is in his prime, he holds his head high, not scared of living his life to the full. Jeremy's appeal is broad, far wider than that of any other adult star. He appears to be just another regular guy that other men can relate to. He is a man who walks to the beat of his own drum.
